In Quest for El Dorado, you are expedition leaders trying to get to the fabled, legendary and golden city of El Dorado. But the road there is full of dangers and unpredictable terrain – the South American jungle is not for the faint of heart.
The players each put together their own team of explorers who possess very different abilities and can help you through the jungle in different ways. The first team to enter the golden city takes all the credit for finding it and keeps all its legendary riches.
Quest for El Dorado is a thematically strong racing deckbuilding game. You are gripped by the intense atmosphere that arises in the race for the hidden riches of the jungle. The deckbuilding aspect, i.e. the fact that you have to put together your 'deck' of cards (explorers), means that you can largely decide how your journey will look like. Do you want to focus on becoming a true master of the jungle rivers? Or do you invest in being able to move quickly through the deserts? The choice is yours.
The playing area is also made up of a number of different boards, which you can put together exactly as you want. So the game will always feel fresh as it is highly changeable.
In 2017, the game was nominated for a Spiel des Jahres, and is one of boardgamegeek.com's best-reviewed family games ever - a great honor Quest for El Dorado absolutely deserves.
